Join Keep Philadelphia Beautiful for an Earth Day litter cleanup and Green Stormwater Infrastructure tour!
In celebration of the First Annual Green Week and the Great American Cleanup, KPB, Green Philly, and local partners need your help to remove litter and debris from Smith Playground and the blocks surrounding the park.
Team up for cleanup competitions, recycling education, and a morning spent enjoying and caring for Mother Earth! All cleanup supplies are provided. Please bring your own reusable water bottle.
After the cleaning is through, we'll embark on a brief walking tour of park's Soak It Up Adoption green stormwater system, led by Philadelphia Water.

Keep Philadelphia Beautiful convenes, equips and empowers people to use community beautification to achieve vibrant neighborhoods. We collaborate, educate and provide resources to ignite collective action and neighborhood pride. The Great American Cleanup, a Keep America Beautiful initiative, prompts individuals to take greater responsibility for their local environment by conducting grassroots community service projects that engage volunteers, local businesses and civic leaders.
Thanks to Make The World Better Foundation, Smith Playground recently underwent a number of rennovations. This dynamic neighborhood staple features new playground equipment, a multi-sport turf field, basketball courts, an outdoor fitness area, a walking trail, and updates to the Smith Playground Recreation building and the property’s stormwater management systems.
Green Week, produced by Green Philly, seeks to connect the community with professionals, educators, leaders, and individuals working towards a sustainable Philadelphia. From April 18th to April 25th, Green Week provides an opportunity for local organizations and businesses to promote their sustainability initiatives and engage additional stakeholders, supporters, volunteers and consumers with their mission.
